Sooji Halwa

DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT A HEALTHY RECIPE! but it's just so yummy in my tummy. so how could I not?

Ingredients:
1 cup Sooji (Semolina)
1.5 cup sugar
1.5-2 cups mixed nuts and raisins
1/2 cup stick butter
2.5 cups water
pinch of salt

Directions:
1. Melt butter in a saucepan.
2. Add nuts and raisins to the saucepan. Stir a bit so they roast evenly and do not get stuck.
3. After a few minutes, add the sugar. Stir until there is a chunky consistency.
4. Add the sooji. Stir as you did the sugar.
5. Add a pinch of salt. Stir.
6.
7. Add water.

8. Let sit for a few minutes until cooked. During those few minutes be sure to use your spatula to move things around a bit. You will know when the sooji has cooked when the water is making bubbles and popping, as it would if it were boiling.

Eat while it's warm! OH BABY!

I wish I knew how to rotate these photos. Oyyyy

One day I'll make all of my own recipes, but I am still in my learning stages. This recipe was adapted from http://www.vahrehvah.com/. The site is wonderful! VahChef provides many instructional videos for so many Indian recipes and I have a hard time getting off of YouTube when I begin watching his videos. He is so fun to watch, and his food is so good! If you're new to cooking Indian food I suggest you take a look at what he's got.
