first post!

As I sit here, poached upon my white leather geometric sofa, buried under a perfectly warm and soft fleece blanket that my teammates made for me, smelling the crispness of the freshly clean surrounding room, not really focusing on anything... especially the terrible movie, Sin City, that is playing right now. I am only half-watching this movie because I firmly believe that you should reap the full benefits of any deal, and this deal is a Blockbuster week pass. Henry rented this movie, and the convenient location of my comfy couch is really making watching this disturbingly violent movie such a chore. I definitely do not recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys those feel-good movies--you know, the ones that leave you happy after a single viewing. For those who get a thrill from the plots dragged on only for more action, this movie will definitely run up your alley.

So, why am I writing a blog entry--not just a blog entry, but my FIRST blog entry--while half-watching this terrible film at 12:30 in the morning--when I should be banking on my summer beauty sleep, only to make up for the sleepless nights of daily college life, and preparing for the hectic Friday midday that will be my last-minute goodbye party? I am writing this on the whim of the feelings that are erupting and driving me to do certain things to achieve something that feels like closure, like my plans for a goodbye party arranged literally at 5 p.m. Thursday. There are too many people who have touched me in my life whom I'd love to recognize, but cannot (though I have tried), due to the lack of time and the commitments I've made that conveniently fill those gaps of time I would have to recognize everyone I love. A number of individuals have mentioned that I should update them with e-mails about how college is treating me and what new venture I am undertaking, and I presumed that beginning a blog would not only satisfy that demand but it would also be a peaceful way to chronicle what feels like a whole new life for me. Of course there are already such mass devices as Facebook and Twitter, but for my purposes both utilities just seemed too impersonal, and, so, here goes!
