OK, really I could have just continued with the first post, but I thought it was long enough and satisfied the contents of a "first post." So for my second post I will talk about my past of recent, a.k.a. my summer!
So I began this post last night but could not bring myself to finish it. I guess that speaks numbers for the future of this blog haha. Anyway, it is Friday night and tomorrow I leave for my Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trip (FOOT) which will be followed by move-in day and then orientation (Camp Yale) and then shopping period and then classes! It is ridiculous to imagine that all of this will begin tomorrow and run me through the next few weeks. In fact, I do not believe it at all... I'm not ready to leave at all! On move-in day my parents will arrive with all of the items I (should) have packed completely by the time I leave tomorrow. Unfortunately I am just not prepared enough... there is much more to pack and much more closure I'd like to have before I debark tomorrow, but tomorrow is just that--tomorrow! I have so little time, and here I am, blogging while watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp! By the way, I looked him up on IMDB and he will be playing an equally outstanding role in Alice and Wonderland, which is projecting a release next year! He will play the Mad Hatter, which I think is a perfect role for him.
Anyway... that note is actually a fine transition to discuss my summer! Last night I was practically dragged into attending my neighbor Azaria's theater camp play. I say "dragged" because I was hazed by my sudden-last-minute decision to throw a goodbye party with the girls and families in my gym. I felt like I needed more time to plan and this event was holding me back, but it certainly did not! They performed "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", and I was happily reminded of how lovely that story was. So I came home wanting to watch the movie, and my brother Henry had to go and get "Sin City" (see last post), which was very disappointing. If it were not for the residual good feelings I had from our next door neighbor, Susan and her irresistible cooking, I do not think I would have slept very well last night. Ugh. Little can put more of a damper on a good day than ending it with an awful movie.
So the party that was arranged within 15 hours of its announcement was successful! It churned from my last visit to the gym to clean out my locker and get my grips. So the mirror was dirty and Barbara claimed that it was a "tradition" that every departing senior clean the mirror. I did not believe her claim for one second... but, I was conveniently holding a bundle of paper towels in my right hand--you know, the one that does all the work--and a Windex in my left, so I grudgingly cleaned the mirror. How fun. Anyway so the party turned out wonderfully! Nice food, nice weather, nice people, nice music (put together by the guests of the party who informed me I needed music, haha). With this party I realized how sorely I will miss some individuals and families, and how hard it will be to start up again without these people there with me. The party happened largely thanks to my Aunt Saori, who was not even present at the party and I hardly think she knows how helpful she was to us. Earlier in the week we consulted her on how to effectively cook Yukasori noodles [the zero calorie ones!]. Turns out all it takes is some water, Yoshida sauce (steak sauce), and a beef or a chicken. Cook whatever veggies you have in a broth and you know it's done cooking when the broth has been absorbed by the ingredients. This was SUCH a useful tidbit, as it made possible the production of large amounts of food and to make this party happen! My mom and I hit up our number 1 store (can you even call it a store? really?), Costco, and, though I went mainly for my Blue Crab spread and crackers, rolled deli turkey and cheese, and Fruit Roll-ups and granola bar samples, I would still say that I was a helpful asset. Allow me to say that the Savit Family is more than just dependent on Costco for life. Costco IS our life.
I don't really feel like writing much more, but since the theme of this post is summer I'll haphazardly mention a lot of memories I have from this summer!
Henry and Ryan's first Man Manicures and Pedicures
Happened today! I coerced them into going, bribing them with a $15.00 bonus if they went through with it, plus my treat. The coercing worked and they went with me! However I did not exactly follow through with my bribe. They DID enjoy it, so it was a good time for all. They may not be so easily swayed by future bribes, but nevertheless I will try again. :) Muahaha! Both Henry and Ryan were so pleased with their grooming and foot massages that they WILLINGLY said that they would go again. And bring friends. Great success!
